Retiree wins huge jackpot in Keno

A NSW retiree has won a $4.36 million jackpot while playing keno as his local Newcastle pub.

The Lambton man usually uses his own numbers, however yesterday decided to buy a 10-number auto-pick.

According to Fairfax, he was on his way home to have vegemite toast for dinner.

The 68-year-old, who wants to keep his identity confidential, owns his own home and doesn’t have any children.

He is planning on donating a large proportion of his winnings to the Calvary Mater Hospital who treated his late wife until she died from cancer two years ago.

He told Fairfax that he would prefer not to spend his fortune on expensive cars or holidays. He wants to continue his routine of having a beer with his friends at the pub.

"I've been coming here for 12 years every day and I play Keno every day," he said.

"I've got all my mates here, I'll probably have a few more today."

His winning amount was the fourth largest Australian Keno jackpot ever.

His numbers were 2, 14, 21, 30, 32, 34, 42, 47, 56 and 75.
