Roger Dean pleads guilty over deadly nursing home fire

Sydney nurse Roger Dean has pleaded guilty to murder over the Quakers Hill nursing home fire which killed 11 elderly residents.

Dean's trial was due to start today, and was expected to last for up to three months following an earlier not guilty plea.

But Deans today surprised the court by admitting to his role in the fire.

Dean worked in the nursing home, which caught fire in November 2011.

He spoke to television cameras on the morning of the fire, boasting of his role in rescuing several residents.
