Graffiti vandals on 'mindless' rampage

The principal of a school in Adelaide’s northern suburbs has called on parents and students to help catch graffiti vandals who attacked her school.

More than 200 graffiti tags were sprayed on buildings at the Paralowie R-12 School overnight in what parents have described a ‘mindless’ rampage.

“I have been a member of this school community now for at least eight years….I think everyone will be as shocked as everybody else because this kind of thing is just mindless,” parent Sarah Caldwell said.

“The kids are going to be devastated as well because it is going to disrupt their school day.”

Workers spent most of the day cleaning up the spray paint.

Police are investigating, but the principal is sure the school community will help track down the offenders.

“We will probably have information during the course of the day, if not from some students or from some families who will give us ideas about who is at large doing this,” principal Di Garwood said.

“I have to be really honest, it’s pretty upsetting.”

The vandals also sprayed tags on businesses, bus stops and properties along Waterloo Corner Rd.

Parents have been calling on the vandals to turn themselves in.

Under a new government program, graffiti artists who deface public transport can now clean up their mess rather than go to court.
