Swans parade sweeps though Sydney CBD

Thousands of Sydney Swans fans flocked to the CBD to cheer on this year’s AFL premiers at a lunchtime victory parade.

The city was awash with red and white as the winning team made its way along Sydney’s George Street.

The Swans beat Hawthorn in a thrilling Grand Final with a clinching goal in the final seconds on Saturday.

They won a fluctuating contest 14.7 (91) to 11.15 (81) in front of 99,683 fans at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Defender Nick Malceski sealed victory with a snap goal for Sydney's first premiership flag in seven years.

It was every bit as nail-biting as the Swans' last premiership in 2005, when they beat the West Coast Eagles by four points to break a 72-year title drought. Saturday's win took their tally to five premierships.
