Man dies after Kilburn crash

A man has died after being hit by a car on Churchill Rd at Kilburn, in Adelaide's inner north-western suburbs last night.

At around 8.15pm the man was hit by a white Datsun Sunny, and was found lying in the road.

He was rushed to hospital, but died there a short time later.

The driver of the Datsun stopped after the accident and has since been interviewed by police who confirmed the man was not driving under the influence.

Police believe he might have been with a group of people moments before the crash, and in particular, are looking for a woman seen with him.

"The man was in the company of a 40-year-old woman and possibly other persons at the time," Officer in Charge of the Major Crash Investigator branch, Inspector Peter Duance, said.

"Police urge this woman to come forward and contact us as soon as possible so that we can progress the investigation," he said.

Police say it is unclear whether he was crossing or lying on the road at the time he was hit and are appealing for witnesses to the accident.

It is still being determined whether the man who died was drunk at the time of the crash.

His death takes the states road toll to 29 compared with 31 for the same time last year.
