Police fear for missing man

Police say they hold grave fears for a missing 28-year-old, father of two, Jason Richards.

Mr Richards was travelling back home to Ballarat from Darwin, driving through South Australia.

He left Darwin on Monday 20 June, and was last heard from by his sister, by a missed phone call the next morning at 5.30.

He was expected to spend the night at Coober Pedy that Monday.

Mr Richards was driving with his dog, Amy, and driving a 1991 navy Toyota Hilux with Victorian registration plates reading ODV 747.

Police believe he was also towing a trailer carrying an aluminium boat, that he had bought in Darwin.

But on Friday, police found the boat and trailer on the Stuart Highway near Pimba, in South Australia's north.

The boat had caught alight, and was burnt out.

Since Friday, Police and Star group officers, and local SES members have conducted ground searches around where the trailer and boat were found, but have not been able to find any sign of Mr Richards.

His family and friends have created a Facebook page in a desperate appeal to find more clues.

Police are asking anyone who has seen the pictured Toyota Hilux, Mr Richards or his dog, or anyone who recognises the trailer and boat to call the police assistance line on 131 444.
