Police are investigating a drive by shooting that happened at Royal Park early this morning, where bullets narrowly missed a man and his mother sleeping inside the Amos Way home at the time.

Police believe three shots came from a .22 calibre gun, shooting at the windows at front door of the house.

Luke and his mother Dot were inside and believe they know who the attackers are, but are refusing to tell police for fear of retribution.

Dot said that Luke used to live with the people involved and that it might be a dispute over money, he's been to the police over recent assaults before.

"So he went to the police because he was on bail himself, and because he wouldn’t say the name they think he’s not cooperating," she said.

"But as he told the police... are you around 24/7, can you stop this bloke 24/7?"

She is now staying with a friend and is scared to go back home.

"I honestly thought someone was playing a practical joke, I had the bloke around my yard looking for my son and he had to run off that night," she said.

"They hit through the bedroom window, through the lounge window and through the front door."

"Straight through the screen through the front door, if I would’ve been standing up it would’ve got me."

Her son, 26-year-old Luke, said he doesn't owe anyone money.

"Sure there’s some other way we can be sorting this out, rather than coming round and shooting up my mum’s house," he said.

Neighbours in the street say they are constantly living in fear.

"It’s disgusting because it’s not safe for our area, we’ve got kids living around here, who’s next?" one told 7News.

Police are asking anyone who saw a car driving suspiciously, or anyone acting suspiciously in the area last night to contact BankSA Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
