‘Everyone is going to die one day’: Train surfer speaks out

A train surfer who filmed himself riding on top of the carriage in Melbourne’s CBD says he wants to be different and doesn’t fear his actions could get him killed.

The 20-year-old, who did not want to be named, is part of a group called Sky High Idiots who post daring train-ride videos across social media.

Three people have been killed riding on top of trains in Melbourne in recent years, but the 20-year-old is not concerned.

“We’ve accepted that everyone is going to die one day,” he said.

“There is no reason to be concerned about it, it’s going to happen. It is inevitable.

“A lot of people ride on the back of trains but nobody rides on the top really.

“Or nobody is putting footage out … so it’s a bit different.”

Vision of the man’s dangerous ride showed how close he came to overhead wires and gantries at Flinders Street Station as he laid on top of the carriage last week.

The thrill-seeking gang has members aged between 15 and 20, and film themselves using trains in dangerous ways.

In another video by the group, a woman is seen riding the back of the train in just her underwear and sneakers.

The Metro Authority told Seven News it is investigating the incident, and urge anyone who sees the dangerous behaviour to call 000.
