Nita Valdez, Jenny's biological mother, worked as a patient transporter during their time as colleagues at a hospital.

"I was just in shock," Jenny, 40, told the New York Post.

"I had looked in so many faces for so many years, [thinking] 'Could that be her? Is she looking at me because she knows me?'," she said.

Nita was reportedly forced to give Jenny away when she was pregnant due to lack of family support that she had become pregnant out of wedlock.

The pair had a 'working-professional relationship', according to the Post, although Jenny recalls Nita laughing at her jokes.

“She’s very quiet, funny. I’m comical, so she would always laugh at my jokes, so that was a plus,” Jenny said.
