Woman drowns puppy to board plane

A woman has been arrested in the US after allegedly drowning a puppy in an airport toilet before boarding a plane.

Cynthia Anderson, 56, was barred from boarding a flight at Central Nebraska Regional Airport, Friday after attempting take her two-week-old Doberman, hidden in her carry-on bag, on board


Airport staff said her puppy was improperly contained and too young to fly.

Ms Anderson then allegedly took the puppy to an airport restroom and drowned it in a toilet bowl.

Only a day early Ms Anderson had attempted to smuggle three puppies onto a flight along with two older dogs, concealed in crates. She had reportedly left two of the puppies with her parent and transferred the older dogs to cages before returning to the airport with the tiny Doberman.

Grand Island police were called to scene where Police Sergeant Stan Steele confirmed the puppy’s death from drowning.

Police interviewed a number of witnessed at the airport including the woman who discovered the drowned puppy.

Ms Anderson is now facing a felony count of animal cruelty. Her surviving puppies are in the care of the Human Society.
