Bank robber hands teller note

Police are hunting a mild-mannered bandit who robbed a bank at Mitcham at lunchtime today.

Police said the man walked into the ANZ Bank in Whitehorse Road and produced a note demanding cash.

The man then fled the area with a quantity of cash.

Detective Senior Constable Jason Stewart said: "He was very calm, he walked in and he spoke very quietly. He didn't make a fuss."

The branch's holdup alarm was activated, but not the anti-theft screens.

Police are asking for public help to find him.

He is described as having a dark complexion and was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and carrying a white plastic bag.
