Chile Volcano

Chile was heavily affected by a volcano that erupted on June 4.

The extreme force of nature caused the evacuation of at least 3500 people as the city became covered in ash.

A border between Argentina and Chile was closed down, causing extreme travel chaos.

Airlines were also forced to cancel hundreds of flights, international and domestic as the ash cloud affected cities all around the Southern Hemisphere.

The ash cloud even stretched across the Pacific Ocean and grounded flights in Australia and New Zealand.

By June 18, the ash cloud completed its first lap of the globe.

An estimated 100 million tonnes of ash, sand and pumice were expelled.

The explosion was estimated to generated a mark of gas 10km high.
