The Australian landscape is under threat, according the National Trust. Over the years Australia has become one of the top ten land clearing nations in the world.

A staggering 50 % of Australian rainforests have been destroyed forever and due to this 200 regional cities are threatened by salinity, says the National Trust.

For every 100 hectares of bush that is being destroyed up to 2000 birds are dying of exposure, starvation and stress, they say.

It is said that land clearing's contribution to greenhouse gas emission is estimated to cost around $1.6 billion every year.
