Student's last text to mum before mysterious disappearance

The family of a university student missing for about a week have revealed the last text message she sent to her mother.

Mackenzie Lueck, 23, from Salt Lake City in the US state of Utah, had flown back from California after her grandmother’s funeral on Monday but hasn’t been heard from since, KSL TV reports.

She arrived at Salt Lake City International Airport and reportedly caught a Lyft car home.

Ms Lueck’s cousin Joslyn Mendelson told KSL TV the family are “devastated” and need the 23-year-old to be found.

“It was one o’clock in the morning, she texted and said the plane had landed and that was the last text she put out,” Ms Mendelson told the station.

“Then she got into a Lyft car at the airport and that was the last she has been seen.”

Friend Ashley Fine told The Salt Lake Tribune she hasn’t seen Ms Lueck in class at university or at work all week.

“We’ve been spreading the word across the nation, around the world,” she told the Tribune.

“We have to do everything to look for her, because I’d want her to do that for me.”

Lyft told the news station it’s assisting police in the investigation.

Ms Lueck’s friend Kennedy Stoner told Fox 13 she’s “extremely concerned”.

“She’s just the sweetest, most genuine girl. I love her. I miss her,” Ms Stoner said.
