Girl, 7, dies in horrific Victorian crash that injured six others

A seven-year-old girl has died after a head-on crash in Victoria’s east which left six others injured.

The two-car crash happened at Brown Coalmine Road near Yallourn North about 3.30pm on Monday.

A 29-year-old woman and a seven-year-old girl, occupants of a Holden Commodore, were airlifted to hospital, police said.

The woman had injuries to her ankle, pelvis, chest and neck while the extent of the young girls’ injuries are unknown, Ambulance Victoria said.

Two other children in the Holden, a five-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl have been taken to the Latrobe Regional Hospital with minor injuries. The three-year-old girl has since been released.

A 49-year-old woman and two 15-year-old boys were in the other car involved in the crash and have also been taken to the Latrobe hospital in a stable condition.

The exact circumstances around the crash have yet to be determined but anyone who saw the incident have been urged to call police.
