WWE Backlash France – Matches and predictionsWWE

Well, that was quite the WrestleMania, wasn't it? Two nights of what some are calling the greatest Mania of all time.

But as always in the WWE, the wheel keeps on turning. Old stories are finished and new stories immediately begin.

There's also been Elimination Chamber in Australia, and now continental Europe is getting some proper PPV action, with WWE Backlash coming to you from France.

What's the full match card and the predictions for WWE Backlash France?

Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs AJ Styles

WWE

As we've already said, a story can never end in the wrestling without a new story beginning.

Cody Rhodes has finished a story several months, years, or decades in the telling, depending on your start point, and now he has to write a brand new one.

Chapter One is defending his hard-earned title, and in AJ Styles he has an incredibly tricky opponent.

Like Rhodes, Styles is a man who had to leave the WWE to become the star he truly was, before returning at the very top.

Since then he's had ups and downs, but is always capable of putting on incredible matches and winning them too.

AJ Styles easily earned the right to face Cody, but we think that wave of success that propelled the American Nightmare to the highest heights won't diminish for a while yet.

PREDICTION: Cody Rhodes

WWE Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs Naomi vs Tiffany Stratton [Triple Threat Match]

wwe backlash france bayley vs naomi vs tiffany stratton
WWE

Bayley as women's champion just feels right, doesn't it?

After discord in Damage CTRL she went out on her own, and that paid dividends when she dethroned Iyo Sky at WrestleMania.

We're expecting her former teammates to take advantage of the mayhem of a Triple Threat to try to get involved, as well as Nia Jax, who's already had an impact on the makeup of this bout

But despite the possibility of distraction, we're tipping Bayley to hold on to what's hers.

Naomi is one hell of a competitor, but we think she needs a little bit more WWE time under her belt after her relatively recent return before she finds her way back to the very top.

Tiffany Stratton's time will absolutely come, too, but not just yet.

PREDICTION: Bayley

World Heavyweight Championship: Damian Priest (c) vs Jey Uso

WWE

It felt at times like Damian Priest was never going to cash in that briefcase, didn't it?

But cash in he did, and at just the right time, too. Taking advantage of CM Punk's involvement and Drew McIntyre's psychological flaws, he got himself a seat at the very top table.

After all that effort, he won't want to drop the title after less than a month, but that feels like a very real risk against Jey Uso, who himself benefited from some Punk/McIntyre shenanigans in qualifying for this opportunity.

Jey just missed out on dethroning Roman Reigns at SummerSlam last year, and for us that means he can easily match Damian Priest.

Yes, the Judgment Day are a factor, but they're no Bloodline, and we're tipping Main Event Jey to get some significant solo gold.

PREDICTION: Jey Uso

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) vs Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill

wwe backlash france women's tag title
WWE

The women's divisions in the WWE still struggle when it comes to tag team wrestling for the same reason as ever: not enough established teams.

What it's never lacked is quality, though, as evidenced by this matchup.

Bianca Belair has had her issues with the Kabuki Warriors going back several years now, while Jade Cargill is a newbie who doesn't even need a reason to hate on Asuka and Kairi Sane - she just needs to build on her already impressive WWE start.

And what better way to do that than pick up some gold, and that's what we think she'll do.

They may not have the same chemistry as their opponents, but when it comes to pure power, they've got what it takes to take the titles.

As for what happens next between two very individual performers, we'll have to wait and see...

PREDICTION: Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill

Randy Orton & Kevin Owens vs Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga

wwe backlash france bloodline
WWE

The Bloodline is dead... long live The Bloodline!

While Roman Reigns is off licking his wounds, and The Rock has pledged to return one day and look up Cody Rhodes, the rest of The Bloodline and its associates are having to move on.

Jey Uso has got a title match. Jimmy Uso is on the shelf after a beatdown from Tama Tonga.

Oh yes, Tama Tonga is here, and naturally he's looking to be part of The Boodline 2.0. Solo Sikoa is perhaps looking to become the new Tribal Chief.

As they jockey for position, they're already making enemies, with Kevin Owens at the top of that list.

Some two-on-one beatdowns were arrested when Randy Orton emerged to even things up, and here we are.

KO and Orton are both veterans with enough experience to overcome Solo and Tama in a fair fight, despite their aggression, but let's just say the last few years haven't conditioned us to think this will be anything of the sort.

PREDICTION: The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga)
