'Time to stop hiding': Acid attack victim shares brave recovery photo

A young model who suffered horrific facial burns after she was doused in acid has shared a new photo showing off her remarkable recovery.

Resham Khan was celebrating her 21st birthday with her cousin Jameel Mukhtar, 37, when they were reportedly attacked at a set of traffic lights in east London on June 21.

Recalling details of the sickening attack, the young student said she watched her "clothes burn away" in front of her.

“The pain was excruciating, I was struggling to close the window. My cousin struggled to get us away," she wrote in a revealing blog post.

Four months on, the brave Londoner has taken to Twitter to reveal her incredible transformation.

“Time to stop hiding,” she captioned her latest photograph.

In the first months after the attack, the young student said she had been "too petrified" to walk down to her local shops.

Alongside photographs of her severely burnt skin, Ms Khan revealed she had undergone various operations and skin grafts across her body.

Friends and strangers responded in droves to her latest Twitter post, praising her for resilience.

"You’re a true warrior, Resh. An inspiration to many people including myself," one man wrote.

"Nobody and nothing can take away ur beauty," another added.

"Just love how down to earth and humble you are most of all how you live life on your own terms.”

Londoner John Tomlin, 24, has been charged over the attack with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm.
