Six injured in 'acid incident' outside London shopping centre
One person has been arrested after six people were injured in an “acid incident” outside a shopping centre in east London.
Police officers were called to the Stratford Shopping Centre in the city’s east at about 8pm Saturday, the Metropolitan Police told the Independent.
A “group of males” were reportedly spraying “what is believed to be a noxious substance” at the centre, police said.
Six people have reportedly been injured and one person has been arrested under suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Sky News reports the incident is not believed to be terror related.
“Police were called just before 8pm to the area around Stratford Shopping Centre to reports of a group of males spraying what is believed to be a noxious substance,” Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
“London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade have attended,” police said.
“A number of people have been reported injured at different locations - believed to be six people.
“One male has been arrested on suspicion of GBH. Officers remain on scene. A cordon is in place. Enquiries continue.”
A number of officers and emergency workers remain at the scene.
