WATCH: Canadian woman 'runs with wolves' on way to work
A Canadian woman recorded a close encounter with two black wolves running alongside her vehicle as she drove to work last Friday.
Rhonda Miller was driving down a highway in the Northwest Territories when she spotted the majestic canines racing ahead, and recorded them with her mobile phone.
At first she thought it was a man walking down the road, the woman told CBC News.
"I thought that was strange because you don't normally see people walking on the road that far out.
"I slowed down a bit and I got closer. [Then] I thought it was a bear, and I thought, it can't be a bear because it was the wrong time of year."
Moments later, Ms Miller spotted a second wolf, with quick strides behind the first.
"My body immediately became afraid. I was so struck by the size of their heads and their jaws," she said.
She followed the animals for about two minutes in her car, catching them on camera as she passed.
The wolves were running about 40 to 50km/h, Ms Miller estimated.
She recorded the encounter because she said nobody would believe her otherwise.
"When I got to school, I shared it with the teachers and kids," she said.
"Everybody was just amazed. I think just the power of them and the beauty of them, seeing them running like that, flat out, is pretty inspiring."
