Black teen has Twitter account suspended over 'white face' tutorial

A black teenage girl has had her Twitter account suspended after sharing a video tutorial on how to create “white face”, a take on the much-maligned black-face craze that has caused a stir in recent years.

Jane Oranika, 19, said her intentions were innocent when she shared the video in the lead up to Donald Trump’s election win.

On the night of the election, the Alabama teenager shared a video where she used concealer as part of a joke that she and her friends were Caucasian.

"When I tried to tweet it wouldn't let me but I wasn't offended. It was pretty responsible for a media platform to take whatever down as they investigate it," she told Buzzfeed.

"It just goes to show that people don't have a problem [with] bigotry towards minorities ... but the minute the majority feel a way about something it's a big deal," she added.

Her Twitter ban was eventually lifted after she appealed it twice.
