A student who stabbed a man in the eye with a Christian Louboutin stiletto has walked free from court.

Shadiya Omar, 22, attacked Justin Lloyd, also 22, as the pair waited for a taxi home after a night out in Manchester city centre on October 18, 2014.

Manchester Crown Court heard Mr Lloyd approached Omar’s friend, offering her a crisp but she knocked them out of his hand, the Manchester Evening News reported.

He attempted to pour them over her head, at which point Omar intervened, striking Mr Lloyd in the eye with her designer shoe.

'His next reaction was feeling that he has been hit in the eye and feeling a long object in front of his left eye, he had to pull it out,' Jonathan Savage, prosecuting, told the court.

Mr Lloyd was left with bruising, cuts and bleeding to the lower lid, cuts to the upper lid and a fracture to the eye orbit.

The court heard he miraculously did not lose his eyesight but was forced to quit work as a labourer because he was conscious of his scarred eye.

Defending, David Morton, said Omar was only brandishing the heel to stop Mr Lloyd hassling her friend and had no intent to actually strike him.

He said she had only removed the shoe because her feet were hurting.

Omar was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, suspended for two years.

She was also ordered to complete six months of unpaid community work and pay a £100 victim surcharge fee.
