Cop caught jamming to Taylor Swift

The social media campaign to get Taylor Swift’s song 'Shake It Off' on Triple J’s Hottest 100 has been given a boost by an unlikely backer in the United States.

While reviewing dashcam vision, the Dover Police Department came across video of one of their officers jamming to the pop song while driving in uniform.

The department thought the video was so good they shared it online and it has since gone viral, attracting more than 500,000 views.

"We hope you enjoy this... and Taylor Swift, if you're watching... we're sorry," the post read.

The video shows Master Cpl Jeff Davis lip-synching to the catchy tune, complete with his own sassy dance moves.

When he sees another car, the officer briefly stops but swiftly continues when he drives away.

Department spokesman Captain Mark Hoffman said Davis was known as ‘the class clown’ at the station.

He said the department had received calls from media organisations around the world, including Australia, all hoping to speak to the new online sensation.

The talented singer has so far featured on US talk show Good Morning America and Fox & Friends weekend.

After the success of their first upload, the department has decided to share some of their other videos in an online series called “Dash Cam Confessionals.”
