Hero cat saves abandoned baby

A stray cat has been credited with saving the life of a newborn baby abandoned in the streets of Russia, local media reports.

The little boy, who is only a few months old, was found in a cardboard box left at the entrance to an apartment block in the town of Obninsk, in the Kaluga region.

The temperature at the time he was found was several degrees below zero.

Masha, a local long-haired tabby cat reportedly climbed into the box and snuggled up to the infant to keep him warm.
