New twist in AirAsia flight tragedy

There has been another sad twist in the tragedy that is missing AirAsia flight QZ8501.

It's been revealed the pilot's father last saw his son at the funeral of another son last week, who had died of diabetes.

Suwarto, the father of Captain Iriyanto spoke to the BBC, appearing hopeful his son will return home safely but seemingly aware there's a possibility he won't.

He said, "I want my son to come back alive and well, but if that's not meant to be, if God doesn't want that it's in the hands of fate.

"My son, he's not alone. if this is god's will then so-be-it."

NewsCorp reported the pilot's daughter, Angela, was also hopeful her father would come home, after posting a heartbreaking plea for her father to return on the social media site, Path.

It translated to: “Papa come back. I still need you. Return my papa to me. Papa come back, we have to meet.”

As the search continues for the missing plane, AirAsia Indonesia says its primary focus remains on the families.
