Woolworths recalls popular juice 'due to contamination'

A popular juice sold at Woolworths stores across Australia is being urgently recalled due to microbial contamination.

Monde Nissin Australia Pty Ltd (nudie Foods) is recalling ‘nudie nothing but 2 apples’ juices in 200ml that have the best before date of 18 June 2021.

All other best before dates on juices are not affected.

Food Standards Australia issued a notice saying the recall was due to microbial (mycotoxin – patulin) contamination.

“Food products containing the mycotoxin patulin may cause illness if consumed,” the notice says.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.”

Nudie has voluntarily recalled the juices.

“While there is no regulation for levels of patulin in Australia, we have taken the precautionary measure to recall this product as we have been informed by our third-party co-manufacturer that the patulin level in this batch is higher than our strict standard,” the company said on its website.

The juices were sold at Woolworths supermarkets and at independent food retailers including IGA in NSW, Victoria and South Australia and independent food retailers in Queensland, Tasmania & Western Australia.
