Woman's incredible effort to steal cactus caught on camera

A Melbourne family has fallen victim to a bizarre theft after a woman was caught on camera crawling on all fours to pinch a potted cactus.

Remarkable footage shows the female slowly edge her way along the ground outside the front of the Avondale Heights home before grabbing the plant from near the front door last month.

Her stealthy approach continues as she tiptoes out of the front yard, making off with the cactus shortly before 5.30am.

Rosa Pisera, who shared the footage with Yahoo7 News, said the plant was taken from the front of her parent’s home.

“My dad was upset because he loves his garden,” she said.

The plant had extra sentimental value due to its age.

“It’s been around for 60 years,” she revealed.

While the family were disappointed with losing the cactus, Ms Pisera said her parents are yet to contact police regarding the theft, adding they thought the CCTV footage was “more of a laugh” than anything else.

She added her mother believes she may have seen the woman in the area before.

The incident comes just a week after a man was caught stealing a frangipani tree from a home in Sydney’s south.
