'Nearly broke my tooth': Woman's dangerous discovery in Coles chocolate

A woman claims she almost broke her tooth while eating a bar of Coles chocolate.

The shopper said she was eating the supermarket chain’s brand of Belgian Dark Chocolate Roasted Almond when she discovered a piece of plastic inside.

“Hi Coles, I was eating your chocolate when this piece of plastic nearly broke my tooth! Be careful people,” she wrote on their Facebook page on Tuesday.

A Coles staffer responded to the woman’s claims on Facebook and asked her if she could provide more details.

“We're concerned to hear this as we assure you we have strict quality controls in place to ensure something like this doesn't occur. Are you doing okay now?” they said.

“We'd like to follow this up, so could you please send us a private message confirming some further information about the product, including the store of purchase, barcode number, batch details and any other numbers or letters you can see on the packaging?”

A Coles spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia the supermarket “takes the quality of all our products seriously”.

“We have spoken to the customer and will follow up with our supplier to investigate the matter. As always we encourage customers to return any item they’re not 100 per cent happy with to their nearest store for a full refund or replacement.”

The woman’s accusation comes just a day after another Coles customer said they discovered two rubbery items resembling a latex glove in a sealed bottle of water.

The customer said one of the strange objects ended up in their mouth after they took a drink of water, leaving them feeling sick.

“I felt a bit nauseous for a little bit after it, just thinking about it, but nothing major,” the customer told Yahoo News Australia.
