Woman's desperate attempts to flee CBD stabbing attack

WARNING, CONFRONTING FOOTAGE: A savage stabbing in central Adelaide has been captured on security cameras.

The incident unfolded mid-morning on one of Adelaide’s busiest streets, Grenfell Street, with two women under attack.

In the footage, a person is seen lunging at one woman appearing to strike her in the neck.

The other is then thrown into the middle of the road with video shows her being assaulted again and again.

That victim tries to fight back throwing an item at her attacker but misses.

Police allege the woman responsible for the brazen act of violence is 33-year-old Cassandra Lennon.

She was arrested after turning up at Hindley Street police station following the attack.

Lennon appeared in court on Monday afternoon charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

The prosecution said this was not a random attack, and Lennon and her two alleged victims aged 33 and 38 grew up together in Coober Pedy.

The court heard one of the women who was allegedly attacked received a cut to the neck that is a centimetre deep.

The other sustained a slash to her bicep and a puncture wound to her back.

Despite the prosecution’s concerns about further offending Lennon was granted bail.

She is due back in court in March.
