Woman who walked into abandoned house to ‘smoke pot’ makes terrifying discovery
A woman who went into an abandoned house to smoke marijuana has made a terrifying discovery in a cage.
The woman, who hasn’t been named, said she went into the home in Houston on Monday for a smoke.
However, once she got inside she told police she thought she was hallucinating, Click2Houston reported.
Inside the abandoned house, locked inside a cage was a tiger.
The major offender animal cruelty unit and animal shelter volunteers were called to the scene.
The big cat was said to be healthy and well-fed, National Public Radio reported.
Authorities nicknamed the tiger “Tyson” after the movie ‘The Hangover’ – where boxer Mike Tyson has a pet tiger.
Officials told KHOU-TV the tiger was well fed, but the cage was secured by a nylon strap and screwdriver. It could easily open and the tiger could have gone on a “rampage”.
The tiger was taken to an animal shelter, before it was transferred to an animal sanctuary in Texas on Tuesday.
It’s legal to own a tiger in Texas if the owner has a wild game permit but it is illegal to have a tiger in Houston.
It’s not known who owns the tiger or the house, but the investigation ongoing.
