Woman shocked to find snake curled up in common appliance

A Queensland woman was shocked to find a metre-long carpet python curled up in her outdoor barbecue.

Snake catcher Stuart McKenzie was called out to Nambour on the Sunshine Coast after the homeowner saw the snake slithering into the appliance on Tuesday.

“A lady had a carpet python go into her BBQ and curl up as it must have thought it was a good place to hide,” Mr McKenzie said on Facebook.

“Unfortunately for the snake it had to be relocated to a more appropriate bushland area.

“She actually saw another snake in her yard but it went under the neighbour’s fence. Snakes are still out and about in these cooler temperatures.”

Footage shows Mr McKenzie opening the door to the appliance to reveal the snake coiled up in the corner behind a spider web.

He manages to get the python out without any trouble and places it in a bag.

The snake was relocated to an area that was a decent distance from the property so it would not return.
