Video shows dramatic rescue of woman trapped on top of submerged car
Dramatic footage has emerged of the moment a woman was rescued from the roof of her submerged car in the north west of England.
Video of the rescue, shot by the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, shows the moment emergency services travel through waters on Saturday to save a woman sitting on the roof of a car on a beach between Beckfoot and Mawbray off the coast of Cumbria.
She became trapped after the tide came in. It is unclear how long she was stuck on top of the car, but it is believed that she couldn't swim.
In the video the crew of four approach the woman. She sits alone with the car completely submerged beneath her.
The rescuers then help her into the raft.
She was treated for hypothermia, The BBC reports.

An RNLI spokesman said the crew had to navigate a safe route around the car in order to rescue the woman.
The spokesman added she was lucky to be alive as there was a "fast incoming tide".
"If it had been much later we could have been looking at a different outcome," he said.
