Woman left for dead on highway by date she met online
A woman’s grieving family believe she was left for dead after falling off a motorbike during a first date with a man she met online.
Jennifer St. Clair, 33, was found dead in Florida’s Pompano Beach about 3am on Friday with police saying her body had been struck by several passing vehicles accidentally while lying in the road, US television station WPBF reported.
“We don’t know how anybody could do something like that. It’s the hardest part,” Ms St. Clair’s aunt, Amy Gamer, said at a news conference on Tuesday.
The family say St. Clair was picked up for a date by a man riding a motorcycle on Thursday evening before heading out for dinner with others also on bikes.
The family claim the date drove off when Ms St. Clair fell from the rear of the bike on a busy highway.
Witnesses have claimed they saw a man on a bike leave the scene.
The Miami Herald reported authorities were yet to release information regarding the motorcyclist with her death being investigated as a traffic homicide, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.
“This is every parent’s worst nightmare,” the family’s lawyer Todd Falzone said.
“It’s going to take a lot of work to figure out what happened, but we’re going to bring those accountable to justice.”
No arrests have been made.
