Woman and child pulled unconscious from suburban swimming pool

A woman and child have been pulled unconscious from a suburban swimming pool north of Brisbane.

A woman in her 30s and an 11-year-old boy were found unconscious in the pool of a gated community in Brendale on Thursday.

Witness David Crowley ran to help after he heard screams and saw the first person on the scene pulling the pair from the water.

“I started CPR on the female,” he said.

Another resident, Michelle Yardley, also heard screams.

“You could hear crying and the panic in her voice,” she said.

“That boy and the mum – I just keep seeing it.”

It’s believed the two victims have just started living at the complex, which has four swimming pools.

It’s unknown how long the pair were in the pool. Police are now investigating what went wrong.

The boy was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital and the woman to the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital.

Both are believed to be in a critical condition.
