Woman charged with incest after marrying her biological father

A man and his daughter have been charged with incest after they were married.

Travis Fieldgrove, 39, and his daughter Samantha Kershner, 21, of the US state of Nebraska were arrested last Tuesday after it’s alleged they began an intimate relationship in September last year, police said.

“Evidence leading up to the arrest suggests that Fieldgrove and Kershner were aware of the biological relationship before being intimate, and further indicates that they quickly married one another after being notified of the investigation,” police said.

It’s also alleged they married in October last year, Lincoln Journal Star reported.

The pair are both being held in jail.

Sisters ‘had competition’ over father

Kershner told her mother she wanted to know who her father was and met him three years ago, Omaha World-Herald reported.

Her mother arranged the meeting.

According to a court affidavit, the pair began with a father-daughter relationship before things turned sexual in September.

Fieldgove believed he wasn’t her father because he wasn’t on her birth certificate. He also claimed the results of a DNA test, which showed a 99.999 per cent chance he was her father, were false.

The 21-year-old told police she wanted to have sex with her father as part of a “jealous competition” with her half-sister as to who could sleep with him.

Both father and daughter are facing a minimum eight years’ jail.
