A man from Windsor has been charged in connection with the sexual exploitation of a child, according to police.

In a news release on Wednesday, Windsor police said the man, 47, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography for an unlawful purpose and invitation to sexual touching from a child under 16 years old.

Police said they launched an investigation on Friday after receiving a report about an alleged child exploitation incident.

Officers say they learned through their investigation the man befriended a 13-year-old at a basketball court in early May, and over the next several weeks, requested explicit photos from the child and offered the victim money in exchange for sexual favours.

The investigation is ongoing and police say anyone with information should call the Major Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers.
