Wild Christmas tree stunt stuns onlookers at Aussie tourist spot

The bizarre stunt in Surfers Paradise left some less than impressed.

Wild video has revealed the bizarre moment a six-metre Christmas tree on the Gold Coast was scaled by a seemingly-unfazed daredevil.

The video shows the male horizontal at one point at the tip of the tree in Surfers Paradise, with onlookers in disbelief. "Holy f***," a person behind the camera says.

After several seconds at the top, the prankster begins to climb down at the request of some bystanders.

The video was shared to TikTok on Monday and has since been watched over 100,000 times, prompting a mixed reaction from users.

"Great effort," one person wrote.

"Is planking back?" another joked.

"Bro just wanted to be the star," one comment read.

Some were less than impressed with the stunt, saying it was another example of how the area is on the decline.

"Can't have nice things in Australia," one person wrote.

"It's not paradise any more .... it's a playground dump for bogans now. Such a waste," another said.

Queensland Police told Yahoo News Australia it is unaware of any such incident in the past seven days.

A City of Gold Coast council spokesperson condemned the incident.

"This type of dangerous behaviour is not condoned by the City of Gold Coast and could result in a $718 fine," they told Yahoo.

Weeks earlier the same street made headlines during Schoolies after it was left scattered with litter after the first big night of celebrations.

Police at the time had pleaded with visitors to the area to behave responsibly.
