A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged with a string of offences following a 20-minute car chase through Perth’s southern suburbs.

Police were alerted to a sighting of a stolen Subaru Forrester station wagon on Amherst Rd in Canning Vale about 6.40pm on Thursday, where it is alleged the man failed to stop despite police activating emergency lights and sirens.

It is then alleged the man continued to evade police for 20 minutes, driving through the suburbs of Canning Vale, Thornlie, Langford, Cannington, Bentley and Queens Park.

The man allegedly collided with two cars during the chase and failed to stop.

A video released by WA Police showed a car driving erratically through oncoming traffic before a man is seen running into a shopping centre.

Police allege the stolen station wagon was abandoned at the carpark of a shopping centre on Albany Hwy, before the man was arrested “a short distance away from the shopping centre”.

The man has now been charged with 10 offences, including stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, failing to comply with a direction to stop in circumstances of aggravation.

He has also been charged with three counts of stealing, two counts of failing to stop causing property damage, giving false personal details to police, and never having held a driver’s licence.
