Finding a good hotel can sometimes feel like a tricky task; finding a good hotel with good pillows to boot, even more so. When you happen upon a luxe bolthole that boasts pillows of sink-into softness, however, you can be guaranteed a peaceful night's sleep – until you check out, of course.

There is a better way, however: simply kit your own bed out with hotel-approved linens for the feel of premium stay, night after night. For those who long for the feather-light softness of a hotel pillow at home, or are hankering after that inimitably smooth feel of luxury sheets (that'll be the high thread-count, by the way) we've asked the finest five-star hotels in the UK to share the tried and tested brands on which they rely.

Whether you prefer the Italian finery of the Berkeley or the ethical credentials of Beaverbrook's beds, you're sure to find a hotel pillow (and pillowcase) on this list that fits the bill. All you need to do is drift off to the land of nod – and remember that there's probably no room service in the morning.

The Berkeley

Tucked away on Wilton Place behind the hustle and bustle of Knightsbridge in the capital's centre, you'll find The Berkeley, a hotel known for its sleek, modern design and tip-top service. Both come together in the hotel's pillows, which are housed in 100 per cent cotton, 300 thread-count cases from the ultra-luxe Italian brand, Rivolta Carmignani: choose yours with or without pale grey piping for the same look (and feel) of The Berkeley's finest.

Claridge's

If any hotel really knows its stuff when it comes to superior comfort levels, its Claridge's – a favourite of the British royals, who have been visiting since the hotel opened its doors in the late 1800s, hob-nobbing with fashionable names including Audrey Hepburn and Carey Grant. The duvets and pillows here are all from the premium German brand Mühldorfer, while the mattresses are from Sleepezee. Fancy stretching out on (almost) the same one every night at home? A version of the hotel's specially made specification (the Maybourne Edwardian 2000 pocket spring mattress) is available to buy.

Beaverbrook

Bucolic Sussex bolthole Beaverbrook puts its guests' comfort front and centre: one need only look to the extremely well-appointed spa for proof. In each of its prettily decorated bedrooms, the hotel uses Tielle Love Luxury pillows; a brand known not just for its high-quality products, but for its ethical standards, too: Tielle sources all its cotton through the Better Cotton Initiative, and supports The Citizen Foundation (TCF) in Pakistan, which helps educate underprivileged children.
