A man in a wheelchair has been Tasered by police after allegedly punching an officer in the face during a violent altercation on a busy western Sydney street.
Police were called Main St in Blacktown about 9am on Sunday after four vehicles parked on Kildare St and Gribble Pl were allegedly vandalised hours earlier.
As part of their investigation, police stopped to speak to a 43-year-old man in a wheelchair who allegedly became aggressive and spat in an officer’s face.
Paramedics were attempting to restrain the man for treatment when he allegedly punched a police officer in the face before picking up a sharp piece of plastic.
Police allege the man attempted to swing the object at the officers before a Taser was discharged. The man was sedated and taken to hospital for treatment.
No charges have been laid in relation to the incident, with police continuing to investigate the damaged vehicles in Blacktown’s busy main thoroughfare.
The number plates of three of the vehicles were bent or broken and the windscreen of another graffitied. A fifth vehicle was reported during the alleged altercation.
