'Way, way, way too early': Outrage as hot cross buns hit shelves months before Easter

Hot cross buns have hit the shelves months before Easter and while leaving many online outraged.

Social media users have posted photographs of hot cross buns on the shelves at Coles, just days after Christmas.

Many social media users were furious to see the sweet treats on the shelves so long before Easter Sunday, which will be on April 21, 2019.

“Give me a break. Hot Cross Buns on shelves already,” one furious Facebook user wrote.

“Coles stop thinking of your pockets and what the real meaning of Christmas and Easter is about.

“Seriously? Hot cross buns 2 days after Christmas,” a disgusted Instagram user wrote.

“Way way way too early, all of our holidays have lost their meaning,” one Facebook user commented.

However, some hot cross bun defenders have come out in support of the fruity treats hitting the shelves.

“Who cares. Here’s an idea… don’t buy them,” one Facebook user said.

“It’s never too early for hot cross buns,” another eager Facebook user wrote.

“It’s as simple as this, if you are against them being in the shops DO NOT BUY THEM and get over it,” one hot cross bun defender wrote on Facebook.

“I love them, should be all year round, build a bridge and get over it,” another Facebook user wrote.

“I am loving the fact that they are now available in stores and I will be rushing there today to get my hands on some!” another Facebook user wrote.

“Here we go again. Some people really need to get a life!” one Facebook user said.

The snarky comments follow comments from people annoyed that the buns are being sold far in advance of Easter.
