WATCH: 53-year-old Melbourne man concussed after coward road rage attack
Footage shows the cowardly attack on a motorist in his 50s who was punched five or six times and suffered a concussion after he didn't let another car cut into his lane in Melbourne.
The Toorak man, 53, stopped at traffic lights in South Yarra moments after not allowing a Honda Civic sedan nose into his lane, about 2pm on Sunday.
The driver of a silver Honda, in the centre lane, attempted to push his way in front of the victim’s car as they approached the intersection of Williams Road in South Yarra, police said.
The victim drove around the front of the Honda and continued travelling towards the intersection.
"Both drivers then became involved in a verbal argument, sounding their horns and indicating their annoyance by hand gestures," according to police.
The short clip, filmed by a witness, shows a passenger from the Honda approaching the driver of the silver Volkswagen and punching him through an open window.
The victim got out of his car in an attempt to get the other vehicle’s registration number but was struck four to five more times by the male attacker.
The offender then got back into the Honda and the driver drove off, while the victim sustained a concussion and required hospital treatment.
Police are appealing for witnesses and seeking public assistance to help identify the attacker.
