War has cost Russia at least $211 billion – report

Moscow has spent upwards of $211 billion to deploy, equip, and supply its invasion force in Ukraine, Reuters correspondent Idrees Ali reported via Twitter on Feb. 16, citing an unnamed U.S. official.

The United States also estimates that Russia has lost $10 billion due to the cancellation of weapon sales.

Notably, this figure does not include the cost of most of the military equipment Russian forces have lost in the war.

The same official noted that since the beginning of the invasion, Russian troops have suffered approximately 315,000 casualties, including both wounded and killed.

They added that since February 2022, Ukrainian forces have destroyed or damaged at least 20 medium to large Russian navy ships and one tanker flying the Russian flag in the Black Sea.
