Could this be Australia's most haunted highway?

A dark and eerie NSW highway - the location of numerous fatal crashes and supernatural sightings - could be Australia's most haunted stretch of road.

The dimly-lit Wakehurst Parkway, about 20kms north of Sydney's CBD connects Seaforth to Narrabeen. Along the stretch of road is Deep Creek Reserve, a location known for murders, bodies being dumped, and unexplained supernatural phenomena.

Motorists have reported terrifying unexplained experiences, like windscreen wipers suddenly failing, doors locking by themselves, and car radios either switched off or the volume turned up by themselves.

The Wakehurst Parkway is also known to be "haunted" with many motorists reporting ghostly apparitions, particularly a young woman in white, affectionately known as Kelly, believed to have died in tragic circumstances in the 1970s.

According to legend, the ghostly figure will run vehicles off the road if she is not asked to leave.

Mary Loughland, a psychic medium from Narrabeen, told the Daily Telegraph she had seen Kelly many times while driving late at night.

“The first time I took the road was about six years ago. It was about 2am, and I had the feeling of someone touching the back of my neck. It felt like a cool hand would on a cold day.

“She is like a white, veiled apparition of a girl in the back seat."

Ms Loughland said she also experienced an strange buzz on the radio, or car doors locking, while driving past the church at Oxford Falls.

Kelly has been the subject of 2015 feature film The Parkway Hauntings, that terrified the film cast and crew during production.

Filmmaker Bianca Biasi returned to the site two weeks ago to film a re-enactment of an encounter with Kelly, for a new TV show when a glow was seen behind the actor playing the ghost.

"At one point we were filming and we could see a glow behind her. We switched off the camera lights and we could still see it," Ms Biasi told the Daily Telegraph.

“All of a sudden the actor who was playing Kelly got really, really cold. It was like something came over her face and she went white.

"She said later that it had been like all the blood had drained from the top of her scalp to her feet and she’d frozen to the spot.”

The filmmaker wants to hear from people who have experienced supernatural encounters along Wakehurst Parkway and Manly’s Quarantine Station for a Haunted Shores documentary.

“I’ve been to a lot of haunted places and there is something very eerie about that place," Ms Biasi said.

In 1994, the dismembered body of Stephen Dempsey was found at Deep Creek Reserve, off the Parkway at Narrabeen.

A year later, in March 1995, the body of 21 year-old Frances Tizzone, who had been strangled by her ex, was found dumped near the Parkway at Frenchs Forest.
