NSW woman filmed throwing cat in shocking video

A woman from Wagga Wagga has caused outrage which has now spread overseas with her shocking act of cruelty against a cat.

Footage of the young woman, Charli Gowland, shows her hurling a cat across a yard and into the path of a dog and was reportedly shared online as a joke.

According to Prime7 Wagga Wagga, the incident was filmed by Ms Gowland’s friend and uploaded to social media with the words: “caption this”.

The local news station also reported that Ms Gowland’s alleged act of cruelty on the domestic animal came after the cat attacked her dogs.

Ms Gowland’s friend told Prime7 that the cat was killed in the incident, which the accused woman has denied.

A NSW Police spokesperson confirmed to Yahoo News Australia on Thursday evening that Wagga Wagga police were investigation the alleged incident.

“Wagga Wagga police are definitely investigating this incident, and are working with the local council...[which] administers the Companion Animals Act,” the spokesperson said.

“There have been no charges laid as yet,” they added.

Yahoo News Australia has also contacted the RSPCA over the alleged incident.
