'I want to be a dad': 'Spiritual healer' arrested after taking son from mum

A former Perth man, accused of taking his son from his mother's house, has been arrested in Bali.

Self-described "spiritual healer" Alistair Larmour allegedly took the toddler from his former partner's home, saying he was driven to do it after a 10-month custody battle.

But under Indonesian law, he may not be charged for removing the child.

Agnieszka Krzysztofowicz says the 15-month-old was taken by his father on Sunday night.

"My baby Andrew, who is barely more than one year old, was abducted by Alistair Larmour almost 24 hours ago," she said in a video posted to Facebook.

Ms Krzysztofowicz and Mr Larmour separated last June. He claims his former partner has refused to allow him to see his son ever since.

"The fact of the matter is I just want to be a dad," an emotional Mr Larmour said in a video posted to Facebook.

He said that every attempt to communicate with his ex-partner had been blocked.

"I felt really cornered and this was actually the only option left to me," he said in the video.

Little Andrew was taken from his mother's home in Ubud but police eventually traced him to a house in Denpasar on Friday morning, where they arrested his father.

The local police chief says if DNA tests prove Andrew is Mr Larmour's son then it is not considered to be a kidnapping offence under Indonesian law.

"The perpetrator is threatened with minor criminal punishment under five years," Ubud Chief Police Made Raka Sugita said.

"Police today will interrogate Alistair and try to make mediation with both of them. This is not a kidnapping case."

Instead, Mr Larmour could be facing a minor assault charge for allegedly hitting his ex on the back of the head when he allegedly took the child.
