Snake falls from classroom ceiling and hits primary school student

A primary school student has had a frightening moment in the classroom after a snake fell on them.

The student, in a class at Waggrakine Primary School in Geraldton, WA, was brushed on the arm after the serpent fell through a ceiling crack, the West reports.

It was 30cm long and thought to be venomous but the student wasn't harmed. The class was also evacuated as a snake handler came in and relocated it.

The school's principal, Elisabeth Turner, said the hot weather meant "baby snakes" might be seen in bushland near the school, but a policy is in place for students and staff if they sight one.
