WATCH: WA cyclist remarkably walks away after car knocks him off bike

Dramatic dash cam video shows the moment a cyclist was hit by a car in Perth's southern suburbs but remarkably walked away unscathed.

In the video, posted to the Dash Cam Owners Facebook page Monday night, a cyclist rides along Safety Bay Road, Waikiki, on the right of screen.

A white sedan then approaches the T-intersection, and turns left from Rand Avenue, driving straight into the cyclist’s path.

The impact knocked the cyclist off his bike and pushed him forward around 10 meters from the T-junction.

Luckily the cyclist was not run over by the vehicle or pushed into oncoming traffic.

It’s hard to believe the rider remarkably managed to walk away from the crash unscathed, without any broken bones or lacerations.

It is believed the incident happened at 7.45am Monday morning.

As part of Western Australia’s one-metre rule introduced just a few weeks ago, the penalty is now up to $400 and four demerit points for motorists who overtake cyclists too close.

That extends to one-and-a-half metres when driving faster than 60 km/h.
