WATCH: Shocking train-surfing stunt caught on video

A shocking case of train-surfing has been caught on camera in Perth.

Motorists driving along the Mitchell Freeway about 4pm on Saturday started recording what appeared to be an act of unbelievable stupidity.

In the footage a teenager can be seen clinging to the back windscreen of a northbound train.

Seven News understands the teenager boarded the train at Leederville and travelled on it until at least to Glendalough Station.

Trains on that part of the Joondalup line can reach speeds of up to 90 kilometres an hour.

The public transport authority is now investigating the incident.

Anyone caught train-surfing could be charged with trespass, that's if they survive the potentially deadly act.
