RSPCA investigates shocking burns to dog found on street in WA

WARNING, GRAPHIC CONTENT: Authorities are investigating after a dog was found with burn injuries in Western Australia's Mid West region on Tuesday morning.

The RSPCA says it responded to a report of a dog found on Gertrude Street, Geraldton, with extensive burn injuries at about 6.30am (AWST).

An RSPCA WA spokesperson said, "The dog was taken to a local vet where it was assessed and treated for burns to its belly, face legs and paws.

"The dog has been sedated and remains in a stable condition, under observation."

The RSPCA said it is unclear how the dog sustained the burns, but investigations are underway.

RSPCA WA is calling for anyone with information that can help piece together events leading up to the dog being injured to call the RSPCA Cruelty Hotline on 1300 CRUELTY (278 3589).
