Driver's ridiculous excuse for speeding when caught by police

Hosting your family's Christmas lunch is no mean feat with a feast of food and drinks to prepare not to mention an array of presents to put under the tree.

And it appears to have been all a bit too much for one Western Australia driver after they let their festive preparations get the better of them when they were caught speeding in North Dandalup on Boxing Day.

The motorist was clocked at 91kmh in an 80kmh zone and when asked by police the reason behind their offence, they offered a frank response about their Christmas pudding.

"I was too busy thinking about my trifle," they told officers.

The driver was slapped with a $100 fine but managed to escape without any demerit points.

Western Australia Police Traffic shared the infringement to their Twitter page jokingly captioned: "This driver was not taken into Custardy."

Several social media users were quick to join in with puns of their own, offering their best dessert-related jokes.

"Guess he got his just deserts," one Twitter user wrote.
